National History Museum

The National History Museum was inaugurated on October 28, 1981. It is the largest museum institution in Albania. There are 4750 objects in the museum premises.
Is evident in these environments, the Ancient Pavilion, dating back to the Palaeolithic period until late antiquity, dates back to the 15th century. VI AD, with nearly 400 objects, all of the first class. In the Medieval Pavilion, with some 300 objects, it is clearly documented the transformation of the historical process of ancient Illyrians in early Arber. This pavilion reflects Albanian history up to the century. XVI.

Other pavilions are those of the National Renaissance as well as those of Independence and of the creation of the Albanian state, until 1924.
In 1996 the Pavilion of Genocide was created with 136 objects. The Ikonografie Pavilion, with 65 first-class icons, was set up in 1999. In this pavilion, the best works of the painters of the nineteenth century were placed. XIII and XIX, as Onufer Cypriot, Joan Cetiri, Constantine Jermonaku, Joan Athanasi, Kostandin Shpataraku, Mihal Anagnosti and some anonymous authors. In 2004, the Anti-fascist Pavilion was restored with 220 objects. In 2005, in one of the halls of the museum, was added the Albanian Ethnographic Culture Pavilion, with about 250 objects.
